How to clean your make up brushes……

Ever notice how soft and fluffy your brushes are when they are new?  Then, as they accumulate make up, they start to feel dense and hard, sometimes prickly on the skin.  All you have to do is properly clean them, and they will return to their soft and fluffy state!

Since most good brushes are made of natural hair, a gentle shampoo will work to gently clean them, just as it cleans our hair.

Here’s a quick and easy way to do it……

1. On any brushes that have accumulated creams and waxes, such as foundation, lip and eyeliner brushes,  use any vegetable oil (I use jojoba oil), to break up the debris, otherwise they will never get clean.

2. Using shampoo and water in a shallow bowl (trying to keep the handles dry), swish the brushes around.  Dump this water and fill the bowl again, swishing some more.   Keep doing this until the water is clear. I always add a splash of white vinegar in the final rinse and this ensures that they are really clean!

3. Reshape them, and lay them flat to dry, and they will be like new again!
