To The Fantastic Fathers In My Life…Happy Dad’s Day!

Today I feel thankful, especially thankful because my hubs is a fantastic Dad and now that our kids are a teen and a tween, his involvement, love and guidance feel even more crucial these days.

Love when I can capture a moment and they don't see me snapping the pic. This man is an amazing Dad to our kids!

I am also lucky to have amazing Father figures in my life.  My Dad has passed on to me his tireless and honest work ethic and the best gift he has given me is his compassion.  I can’t tell you how many animals he has saved in his life.  And he has shared his love of fishing, baseball, piano and more with my kids and even though we live far away, it doesn’t feel that way because he is involved with his grandchildren as they enter each exciting new stage.

My Dad as a Grandpa. He is a great one :)

My Father-in-law is also awesome and I enjoy our chats about my hubs (his middle son) and my kiddos.  He is a terrific Pop Pop to our children and they both adore him.  He shares his love of trains, books and travel with my son and my girl has gone to Pop Pop with school projects and they worked together to create something great.  My kids are so lucky!

Pop Pop kisses and now this boy is almost as tall as his Pop Pop. Time flies!

I also have a wonderful and fun step-father who is always very interested in what the kids are doing.  On a recent visit, I enjoyed watching how much fun he was having watching my girl’s show choir perform at our community theatre.

This Grandpa makes my girl laugh and she loves his British accent. She can mimic him and he thinks it is great fun!

I have other father figures in my life as well that I am grateful to for giving me good direction and support.  An earlier stepfather in my life and my husband’s uncle who have both been good to me, too.  How lucky I am!

Simply said, Dads rock and on this Father’s Day I wish you all a fabulous Father’s Day.  Dads and Granddads are a crucial part of a child’s life and they make a difference in who that child becomes as they reach adulthood.  I appreciate the Dads in my life.

And for those of you missing your beloved fathers today, I send you my heartfelt love.  Today I celebrate that life with you and I know what it is like to miss a close loved one on a special day.  Here’s to your Dads, too.

On This Father’s Day…

Our surprise Father’s Day gift to my hubby.  This awesome photo art design piece was photographed by professional photographer John Hall and created by the talented artist Sharon Brenner.  See more about both of them in my Father’s Day Gift Guide article

On this Father’s Day, I honor and thank my own husband and my dear Dad.  I also have to honor the step-father I had growing up, Pete and the stepfather that I love and have now, David.  And I simply adore and love my Father-in-law, Charles to pieces, too.  I am quite blessed to have so many wonderful Dads in my life!

And I also reach out to those of you who miss your Fathers today.  With all holidays, there is joy, but I also remember those of you who feel the loss on a day like today.  I am thinking of all of you on this Father’s Day, too.

To my own husband and to my father, Dennis…I thank you for being awesome, terrific and loving men in my life.  Thank you Grandpa Dennis for being such a loving granddad to my two kiddos that adore you!  And Pop Pop, my children love you so much!

To my husband, I truly couldn’t have asked for a better Father for our children…and for our kitties, too!  Raising our son and daughter with you is our amazing wonderful journey and I thank you for the patience, steady hand, guidance and good humor that you incorporate into our all-important job each and every day.  So much joy in our life because of you…

Welcoming our daughter ten years ago.

With our baby boy 14 years is time flying so fast?!

And here they are now....the loves of my life! Almost bigger than their Dad!

And yep, he is a good cat dad, too....with our newest addition, our daughter's kitten, Lucy!

Happy Father’s Day out there!

Free & Almost Free Father’s Day Gift Ideas That He Will Love

Manic:  Dad’s Day gift ideas with little or no budget as so many families face during these tough economic times.

Managed:  Brainstorming some heartfelt Father’s Day gift ideas that won’t drain your bank account, but will fill your father’s or your hubby’s heart.

*This first idea comes from a KTVK viewer who wrote in after I did my annual Father’s Day gift idea segment last week.  She shared that she makes a sweet book full of her children’s favorite, funny and heartfelt quotes.  The book becomes a wonderful keepsake for her husband who loves this gift!  And our kids say so many cool things that we will forget if we don’t write it down.  Great idea!

*Probably my husband’s favorite gift ever from me is a little photo book that I made years ago of our kids when they were small.  He always has this little book in his briefcase and when he has to travel, he always makes sure that it is right there with his airline ticket.  I know how much he loves it because he recently asked me for some updated pictures and as I filled the book, it was amazing to me to see how much our kids have grown.

*Another favorite Father’s Day idea of mine, that he loves, was the year that I rearranged furniture and made him a reading area in our bedroom.  I grabbed a little white book shelf that had been in our daughter’s room, added an old lamp with a spiffed up lamp shade and moved our chaise lounger from one side of the room to the other to complete his new reading area.  I then filled the book shelf with his favorite reads and placed a comfy blanket on the lounger to complete the area.  He loved the idea and enjoys that area for a few minutes before bed every night.

*Another year I finally learned how to make his two all-time favorite desserts that I had never prepared before…homemade peach cobbler and banana pudding.  For the cost of a few grocery store items, this proved to be one of his favorite Father Day celebrations.
