AZ Local: Have You Heard About the Girls Rule Nominations?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I recently heard about a cool local program called Girls Rule! Foundation and the organization annually recognizes a special young lady who serves as a good role model.  Since we need more of those in today’s world, I happily agreed to accept a guest post from Shay Moser, who works with Girls Rule! Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that offers educational programs to help young women ages 12-18 make healthy life choices, build/maintain self-esteem and create goals.  Girls Rule artHere is more about how to nominate a special girl that you may have in mind and a little more about the Girls Rule! Foundation, too.

Shay says:

Surprise the Amazing Teen in Your Life!

Last December, I nominated my niece for the first annual Girls Rule! Brilliant, Beautiful and Bold Role Model Award. I’m going to nominate her for the second annual award, too. It’s coming up in September. While I think she is quite deserving of being one of the four winning candidates this year, it’s possible she won’t win against some of the other amazing Arizona teen girls who are nominated.

However, I’m doing it not only because I feel she ought to be recognized for her efforts by an outside organization, but also because I think it’s a good way to show her how proud I am of her accomplishments, selflessness and tenacity.

Although she didn’t win last year, she was honored at the first annual Girls Rule! Shine Brightly Teens and Women Summit. This surprised and moved her. I don’t think it mattered to her that she didn’t win, because she certainly felt honored that I had taken the time to write a compelling description about how she is a role model and makes a difference.

My niece will be particularly surprised this year since all nominees of the second annual Brilliant, Beautiful and Bold Role Model Award will be invited to the Phoenix Mercury Women of Inspiration game on August 31, and acknowledged at halftime on the court.

The four winning Arizona teen girls will be announced and honored at the second annual Girls Rule! Shine Brightly Teens and Women Summit September 21 at the U.S. Airways Arena. The pictures from last year’s summit only show half the fun we had shopping, getting tips and tools for achieving our dreams, and fun activities and entertainment.

Not only all this, the support from these events benefits the Girls Rule! Foundation’s educational programs throughout the year in Arizona for young ladies ages 12-18.  Here are a few more fun pics from last year’s event to give you an idea of what to expect…at table

Do you have an amazing teen girl in your life that you’d like to nominate? Surprise her. Show your teen how proud you are of her. It’s not winning that matters, but the actions that prompt the nomination and that is what truly matters.  Celebrate that and nominate someone deserving.
