Roman’s Recommended Yoga Poses for Anti-Aging Benefits

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Manic:  Time…how fast it flies and how fast I see my appearance changing.  I always thought that I would age gracefully, but um…well…not so much!  And I want to find some natural ways to tap into the fountain of youth!

Managed:  Taking up yoga!  Our managedmoms.com writer and yoga expert, Roman Acevedo, tells me that in addition to the many physical and mental benefits of yoga, a more youthful appearance can also result from regular yoga poses.  Well, sign me up for that.  So Roman explains today and next week he will show us in a video.  Check out what he says and he includes links for each pose to show how each one looks.

Roman says:

Hi Everyone,

Let’s talk about inversions and the benefits of these life altering poses.

 List of Inversions:

Rachel's note: This is not me. I wish it was me. I bought this photo from IStockphoto.com to demonstrate what a supported shoulder stand looks like. Next week Roman will show us proper inversion poses. And this one I can do....although I wish I had an ocean in my back yard, but I can still do this one here in our desert!

*Salamba Sarvangasana (Supported Shoulderstand)  — shown in above picture

*Salamba Sirsasana (Supported Headstand)

*Halasana (Plow Pose)

*Pincha Mayurasana (Feathered Peacock Pose)

These are just a few of the inversions available to you with a little practice.  Over the next few weeks I will be demonstrating some of these poses in more detail in my videos.

 Benefits of Inversions-

*Relieves Back Pains

*Improves digestion and elimination

*Spinal Flexibility

*Brain Power

*Promotes lymphatic drainage and blood purification

*Elevates the mood and relieves depression

*Enhances relaxation and promotes sounder sleep

*Can lead to a more beautiful appearance

*Reverses the aging force of gravity

Impressive list, right?

I’m going to touch just a little on the last benefit and give you a key to youthful aging and long life. Big statement you must be thinking, well you be the judge. I challenge you to try “this” pose and practice it every time you are on your mat.  The “Queen of Asanas” is called Salamba Sirsasana (Supported Headstand). If you choose to do any of these inversions this is the one, learn it and practice it.

Next week I will go into detail and show you how to safely get into and out of Salamba Sirsasana.  Until then, keep in mind that for yoga to be beneficial. you need to practice at least 4 times a week.

Namaste~

Roman
